Overview

Comet C/1855 L1 (Donati) is an object whose orbit does not match any defined comet orbit class. NASA JPL has not classified Donati as potentially hazardous because its orbit does not bring it close to Earth.

Donati orbits the sun every 92,000 days (251.88 years), coming as close as 0.57 AU and reaching as far as 79.25 AU from the sun. Its orbit is highly elliptical.
